ParentingSupposedly, by the time a parent realizes that he/she was a perfect or a real parent, probably the child has already grown up and is getting ready to be a parent himself/herself. It’s no denying the fact that raising today’s kids is quite a daunting task. The choices are conflicting and the demands are high. Is there any short cut formula from the experts as how to raise a confident, successful ‘Super kid. Well, it is you to think and not me to answer! Throughout the act of parenting, we the parents, try balancing priorities, juggling responsibilities, quickly flipping between the needs of our children, other family members and ourselves. We remain at the disposal of our kids, with our unique authoritative, democratic or laissez-faire parenting style. Whatever may be our approach, we try to to be available 24×7 for our kids in the best possible manner. We focus on encouragement over praise, cooperation over obedience, consequences over punishment and sacrifices over unconditional love. We are busy surfing the internet to get the best possible parenting strategies to nurture a physically healthy, emotionally mature, technologically sound and socially adjusted perfect child.
Well, the developmental psychologists are of the opinion that each child is unique with his own potentials and weaknesses. He /she grows as per his/her intellectual and cognitive capacities. These abilities are genetically inherited as well as environmentally modified. It is very important to be aware of a child’s nature to nurture him/her.
