VMS was founded by eminent educationist and social worker Mr. C. G. Chandra, who was a great visionary with revolutionary ideas. He also instituted the Vivekananda Education Society (VES), which is an NGO with an international reputation. The objective of VMS is to impart “Man-making and Character building” education to its students in accordance with the principles of Swamiji Vivekananda. VMS currently has two branches in West Bengal – VMS Joka (Kolkata) and VMS Haldia.
