Emotionally Intelligent Parenting (EIP)

The idea was instituted by the founder, Late Mr. C.G.Chandra, as he could foresee the challenging task of rearing today’s children. He named his brain child as “Emotionally Intelligent Parenting” (EIP). His vision was to discipline the child in a way that teaches responsibility by motivating them internally, to build their self-esteem and above all to make them feel loved unconditionally. He emphasized on the fact that parents who constantly run interference between their children and the real world are actually doing more harm than good.

Features

The programme is a comprehensive guide for growing children and their parents. There are 3 cornerstones of the programme:

  • To be aware of a child’s basic emotional needs.
  • To be aware of a child’s various emotional difficulties.
  • To be aware of emotional management through dynamic parenting skills.

The elements of the programme consists of :

  • To nurture Child’s self-esteem.
  • To set limits and be consistent with parenting practices.
  • To make time for children.
  • To make communication a priority.
  • To be flexible and willing to adjust parenting style.
  • To be aware of one’s own needs and limitations as a parent.

“Relationship Management” as the term signifies is a major aspect of the programme which emphasizes on parents’ ability to anticipate, understand and appropriately respond to the emotions of their children”.

Format of the Programme

Based on the need, characteristics and difficulty areas of a class, EIP programme is arranged in form of a workshop and parents of a particular class are officially invited to attend the programme. It takes recourse to a comprehensive Power Point Presentation, interaction, various competitive activities like chart making, debates etc. followed by token prizes for the winning parents. The programme is summed up by collecting verbal or written feedback from parents. The programme is conducted by the full time counsellor of the school.

Objective

The purpose of this interactive workshop is to discuss challenging situations in parenting, sharing experiences, sorting out solutions and acting as an information channel to the parents in need.
The entire concept is carefully monitored and guided at every step by our respected Principal Sister. Her suggestions are implemented in every programme.
We hope to develop many more programmes on various uncovered aspects of parenting and help the parents of our school in times of need.
