An audio-visual program with a Q & A session on cosmological science ,in collaboration with Paschim Banga Vigyan Mancha ,for class XI Science Students was held on 11.08.23. 

Resource person – Dr. Taparati Gangopadhyay , PhD ,Astrophysics from Jadavpur University. She is a Researcher of Astronomy under the University of Calgary. Dr. Gangopadhyay is the Science Communicator of Prasar Bharati. Her lecture was based on Solar System & Cosmic Rays.

Along with Dr. Gangopadhyay delegates from Paschim Banga Vigyan Mancha also attended the session.

Cosmology is a branch of astronomy that involves the origin and evolution of the universe, from the moment of Big Bang till today. Cosmologists puzzle over exotic concepts like string theory, dark matter and dark energy and whether there is one universe or multiverse. Dr. Taparati Gangopadhyay also did the same, she discussed the historical background and the moto of various missions of NASA and ISRO like- Parker web, James web telecope , ISS and Chandrayan, etc. She shared many interesting and unknown facts about Solar System. The session was interesting and full of information through ppt presentation. Many students took part in the question answer discussion session. She gave insight into the various career options linked to astrophysics and how to go about it. It was truly an engaging session.
