There are certain rules on the day that you cannot hoist the flag before the Prime Minister does, so we as a top high school do try to get it done accordingly. It is essential that the children witness it at 9 am along with the rest of the nation.

The campus is decorated with ribbons and balloons of colours on our national flag. Independence day is an opportunity to give back to the nation, and we as one of the best ICSE schools hope to continue our annual charitable events during this time. We do plant saplings and trees apart from distributing groceries to the poor at our school premises.

The future leaders of tomorrow should realize that the freedom attained by us have come in the form of unparalleled sacrifices from our freedom fighters many of whom took inspiration from the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. It is also about freedom from prejudices and dogma as preached by the sage.

Not only is it an annual ritual, but also such endeavours are all the more necessary during these turbulent times when the entire world has been penalized by the attack of a deadly virus. We can feel how the global pandemic has adversely affected the livelihoods of millions across the world. It is another war of independence against the prime killers of this millennium.

The children need to know that good can continue through tough times, and this is an outstanding teaching opportunity for that. Cultural events and competitions are also conducted to encourage them so that they can feel the freedom to translate their creativity into something substantial. Students rehearse dances and songs, apart from presentations on freedom fighters in advance, which are fact-checked by concerned teachers.

Unsurprisingly, we witness a lot more enthusiasm and initiative from the students nowadays. Previously, only a select number of students would perform on independence day, but from the last year, everyone is contributing. This is because each and every individual from this esteemed English medium school has realized the pertinence of contributing to society as an individual. Not only that we take pride in bringing up our students with such values that they have imbibed amongst themselves while studying at one of the best schools in the world that they are gearing up to be a truly global citizen with a cause.
