On 12th March, 2025 Five students from Vivekananda Mission School went to the Sea Explorer’s Institute Centre for Maritime Training, Research & Exploration located at Outram Ghat.Topic was ‘Why are Tigers migrating?’ Timing for the workshop was from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. Dr. Sangita Mitra was the resource person who is the Director of WWF ( World Wildlife Fund) India WBSO.
Students who had joined the workshop were from different classes :
1) Soumyajit Nandi and Sukanya Halder of class XI
2)Rion Bhandari of class IX and Debangana Maity
3)Bishal Bhattacharya of class VIII.
The Resource person gave detailed information about the reason behind calling tiger as our national animal. Nowadays human activities, such as habitat destruction and infrastructure development, can fragment tiger habitats and disrupt their natural migration patterns. She also explained the difference between Tiger and Leopard. They planted some mangrove plants near their institute named mangrove date palm, flat leafed spurred mangrove. Students observed them and understood the objective very well. They received participation certificate after this enriching session.
